Kayal is an independent digital publication based in Bombay, India.
We gather different sensibilities, & nuances that are simply penned with the intent to tell deeper stories. We started Kayal in reverence and curiosity for conversations. These narratives are based on real conversations, material memory, & the anatomy of lands in the form of abstract, lyrical essays, & and poems, that are available for everyone to read.
Whoever stumbles at our small corner of the internet, feels welcome and in some parts less alone. So, if you think you have an appetite for conversation with an occasional pinch of pondering.

Currently, we function quarterly. Each piece is seasoned with raw, real conversations and like many good things, it’s worth the wait. We stand behind the idea of finding pleasure in the process; in writing, in cooking, in seasons and in aging. So we hope you too take a break from the hurry of the world, and with us, be calm, consistent and patient, reading away one letter at a time.
